Assignment Brief:
For this project, I had to produce a two-minute short film for a target AUDIENCE OF 6 to 19 years of age. Because of it being a younger-than-usual Target Audience, it also had to include some morals and to create interest, it needed more than one character.
Purpose and Idea Generation:
The purpose of this short film is to challenge whether friendship or education is more important. To achieve this, I scripted "Dreams and Dilemmas" to make it about a girl who misses an exam to save the love of her life. The ideology behind this (as connoted by my script's dialogue) was that you could retake any exams or education later in life whilst the prospect of new friendships was always very fleeting, never to be recaptured. It was a fun, simple story which utilized conventions of Fantasy to add a unique twist on this Romance/Drama short film.
Proudest Achievement:
My proudest achievement of this "Dreams and Dilemmas" short film is the denotation of Motion Graphics as this short film is the first time that I has used motion graphics in Adobe Premiere Pro. They were inspired by Merlin, a fantasy series by the BBC airing from 2008 to 2012 as seen by the type of font to keep with the genre of Fantasy. As a result, I feel that this projects stereotypes my desire to explore and experiment with the technologies I have around me. What also helped is that at the time, I was doing work experience with a marketing / advertisement agency called Film Punks LTD, situated in Basingstoke, Farnborough, Hampshire.
This use of Motion-Graphics helped me to be creatve within my storytelling anc to make my short film dynamic and innovative, becausr I used conventions of fantasy (such as the girl having magical powers to resurrect people, the opening titles having mythical music and so on) but presented this as a drama because of this asking whether firndship or education is more important.
This is also the one production where I first used the Masking Tool which I am proud of, because Masking is often a long, lengthy, and hard task to master. This helped to to make my short film creative so that I could successfully show a ghost which looks convincing for viewers of "Dreams and Dilemmas".

Conclusion
This - to date - is one of my favourtie projects to have been produced at Farnborough College of Technology. This is because it gave me the chance to experiment with Motion Graphics and thus experiment with blending Drama, ROmance and Fantasy. This makes "Dreams and Dilemmas" the most creative and imaginative out of all the projects created at Farnborough College of Technology. It also taught me the importance of only rendering when necessary, and giving plenty of time to render whilst editing with large Motion-Graphics, because of the size and complex operation involved with these types of files.
*Rendering is when you (in your edit) make your video files flow smoothly and is usually done because of large files sometimes causing lag and glitching in editing.
